As many as six labourers were killed and another one is critical in a third degree burn injuries in an fire accident at the shed at an under construction Eligance Layout situated in Bheemenahalli Village,Bidadi Hobali, Ramanagara in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Manarul Sheik,40, Tajabul Shekh,26,Jahed Ali,32,Hasan Malik,42,Jiyabur Sheik,40,Shafijul Sheik,36 while Noor Jamal,21,sustained third degree burn injuries and battling for his life at Victoria hospital .
The victims are constructions labourers from west Bengal working under the Hasan Malik,mason for the last one year .
They were living in a in a 30 square feet shed at the construction site where they eat and sleep .
Probe revealed that the fire broke out at the shed at around 2.30 am while the victims were sleeping in the shed after dinner.
Security guard,Badri Thakur at the site noticed the fire and alerted the site in-charge who rushed the injured to the victoria hospital where they succumbed to their injuries one by one .
The Bidadi police rushed to the accident site and conducted probe which revealed that the accused has a LPG cylinder inside the shed and forgot to switch off the switch after cooking.
This led to the leaking the gas the while night and one of them in the middle of the night got up to smoke which led to the fire .
Based on the complaint by one of the victim,the police have taken up a case against the landowner,site engineers and others charging them under rash or negligent acts endangering life and safety and also under offence of attempt to commit culpable homicide for further investigations .
