Bengaluru :The state government has withdrawn the order suspending four police officers,including Police Commissioner B.Dayanand,on charges of dereliction of duty in connection with the stampede that occurred near the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB victory celebration in which 11 people died.
Eleven cricket fans were killed in a stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) victory celebration.
Following this incident,five police officers,including the Bengaluru Police Commissioner,were suspended by the government.
Now,barring one officer, the suspension of the remaining four officers has been cancelled and orders have been issued to them to report for duty.
Although the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been running for the last 18 years,the Royal Challengers Bangalore team has been suffering from the disappointment of losing without winning the trophy.
However,this year,RCB has won the trophy for the 18th season.
However, the government,police department,RCB,KSCA and DNA experienced a lack of coordination to celebrate the RCB victory ceremony.
Due to this, people gathered in lakhs to participate in the RCB victory ceremony and see the cricket players of the trophy-winning team.During this,a stampede occurred and 11 people died.
Following this incident,the state government suspended Bengaluru Police Commissioner B.Dayanand,his subordinates Vikash Kumar Vikash,Shekhar H.T, Balakrishna and Girish.After this, an FIR was registered against RCB, KSCA and DNA.
Thus,the heads of all three organizations were arrested and sent to jail.All of them have been released on bail after applying to the court in this regard.However, the case is yet to be resolved.
Among the police officers suspended by the state government, only IPS officer Vikas Kumar has approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) challenging the state government’s suspension order.
Now,except for Vikas Kumar,the suspension order of B. Dayanand, Shekhar H.T,Balakrishna and Girish has been cancelled and an order has been issued.Through this, the suspended officers have been allowed to return to service.
