The Kothanur police on Thursday arrested a 19-y
ear-old tutor of Madrasa for assaulting an 11-year-old student to punish her for creating nuisance in the class .
The assault,which took place on February 16 in Hegde Nagar houses around 100 girl students to teach Arabic and the accused is son of the couple running the madrasa.
Senior officer told reporters the incident occurred on February 16 and the entire incident was captured on CCTv camera.
The accused summoned the girl to the office and assaulted her while the other students and staff gathered at the office looked on.
The accused is son of tutor couple who are heading the institution.The girl managed to inform her parents who rushed to the madrasa and filed a complaint with the committee before approaching the police.
Based on the complaint the accused Mohammed Hasan was arrested under JJ Act and also under section 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt ) under BNS.
The students complained that the teaching staff including the accused harass and beat up the girl students on the pretext of discipline.The girl was admitted to madrasa eight months ago and it was a residential madrasa.
The madrasa under the banner Islamic madrasa and school for girls offer different religious courses along with regular English medium curriculum.
It is a day school and hostel facility managed by a charitable trust .
The teaching staff would beat up regularly and even forced the girls to do daily chores likes washing utensils, cooking and cleaning washrooms.
Even the senior girls who study there and also teach harass the juniors,one of the victim,said .
