The Avalahalli police have registered a case against a garbage collection vehicle driver for allegedly running over and killing a 10-month-old female stray dog in Konadasapura village on October 16.
According to the complaint filed by Veena N,a resident of Seetharayya Road in Konadasapura village,the incident occurred around 7.44 am when the puppy was sitting by the roadside.
The complaint alleges that the garbage vehicle driver, identified as Chakku Miah,failed to honk or make any apparent attempt to avoid the animal before running over it.
Even after the vehicle initially hit the puppy, the driver allegedly failed to stop and ran over it again,killing it on the spot.
People who witnessed the incident reportedly shouted at the driver and repeatedly warned him to stop after noticing that the puppy was trapped beneath the vehicle.
However,he allegedly ignored their warnings and continued driving.
The Avalahalli police have registered a case under cruelty to animals act and also under section 325 of BNSdir further investigation.
