Take Precautionary Measures Before Rain-Related Incidents Occur: Krishna Byre Gowda

*Heavy rainfall likely in western and northern Bengaluru.
*Control rooms directed to remain operational round-the-clock.
*Availability of JCBs and adequate manpower to be ensured.
With heavy rainfall expected in the city over the next two to three days,Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed officials to take all precautionary measures in advance to prevent rain-related incidents and ensure prompt response to emergencies.
Addressing a virtual meeting on Wednesday evening with the Chief Commissioner,the Commissioners of all five municipal corporations and other senior officials,the Minister said,“There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the western,northern,eastern and central parts of Bengaluru over the next two to three days.
The Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert in this regard.Officials must remain vigilant and take all precautionary measures before any rain-related incidents occur.”
He said western and northern Bengaluru were likely to receive rainfall above normal levels.PraharI vehicle teams must therefore remain fully active and conduct regular rounds across the city.These teams should be in a position to provide immediate assistance wherever required,he directed.
Control Rooms Must Remain Alert:
The Minister directed that control rooms remain operational 24 hours a day during the rainy period and respond immediately to complaints received from any part of the city.
In areas prone to waterlogging, pumping equipment and motors must be kept ready to drain out accumulated water,he said.
Officials were also instructed to ensure in advance the availability of adequate manpower and JCBs to clear fallen trees and deal with other rain-related emergencies.
“Engineers across the GBA jurisdiction and the Fire and Emergency Services must remain fully prepared to deal with any situation,”Minister Krishna Byre Gowda told officials.
The meeting was attended by Chief Commissioner, Maheshwar Rao,Municipal Commissioners,D.S.Ramesh, Pommala Sunil Kumar,Ramesh K.N,and G.Jagadish,Dr. Rajendra K.V,Additional Commissioners,Joint Commissioners,Chief Engineers and other concerned officials.
