A 58-year-old security guard employed at the residence of JD(S) leader Andanappa allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself from a star fruit tree near the house in Laggere Main Road on Thursday morning.
Senior officer told reporters,The deceased was identified as Nagaraju,a native of Arsikere in Hassan district.
He had three wives and had been living separately from his family for several years.
He had been working as a watchman at Andanappa’s residence for the past five to four years and was residing in Laggere.Police said he had been living separately from his family for several years.
According to the Rajagopalnagar police,Andanappa’s son discovered Nagaraju hanging from the tree in the early hours between 7 to 7:30 am.He had allegedly used a shawl to hang himself.
Jurisdiction Police rushed to the spot,conducted a mahazar and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained,and no suicide note has been recovered so far,police said.
A case of unnatural death (UDR) has been registered at the Rajagopalnagar police station,and further investigation is in progress.
