The Karnataka Lokayukta Bengaluru South District police on Thursday trapped a Deputy Range Forest Officer while allegedly accepting a Rs.30,000 bribe in Ramanagara.
The accused has been identified as Rajashekariah, Deputy Range Forest Officer,Forest Department.
According to the Lokayukta,a complaint was filed by Santhosh of Ward No.21,Kottipura village,Ramanagara town,alleging that the officer had demanded Rs.30,000 to issue a permit for cutting teakwood trees.
Acting on the complaint,the Lokayukta team laid a trap and caught Rajashekariah while allegedly accepting the bribe amount.
A case has been registered under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act,1988,as amended in 2018.
The trap was led by PI Sandeep Kumar BN,under the supervision of DySPs Shiv Prasad and Rajesh,with assistance from PI Vijay Kumar.
The accused officer has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
