Shivamogga:In a real-life scene reminiscent of the Bollywood film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kumsi police went the extra mile to trace the family of a 14-year-old mute girl found wandering alone in Tammadihalli village of Shivamogga taluk and safely reunite her with her parents.
The girl,who is unable to speak, had recently arrived at Tammadihalli by a private bus.
Finding her wandering around suspiciously, local residents approached her and soon realised that she could not communicate verbally.They immediately alerted the police.
Acting swiftly,ASI Krishnamurthy and Leelavathi reached the spot,took the girl into their care and handed her over to a government children’s home for her safety.
The police then launched efforts to identify and trace her family.With the assistance of the Child Welfare Committee,police personnel and the effective use of social media,the girl’s parents were eventually located.
Police also discovered that a missing-person complaint had already been registered at Channagiri Police Station after the girl went missing.
Following the efforts of the police and child welfare authorities,the girl was safely reunited with her parents.
The police appreciated the cooperation of local residents and the Child Welfare Committee, besides the role played by social media in helping trace the girl’s family and ensuring her safe return.
