Municipal Marshal assaulted for questioning roadside garbage dumping;FIR registered for allegedly obstructing government duty

An FIR has been registered at Amruthahalli Police Station, as directed by Pommala Sunil Kumar, Commissioner,Bengaluru North City Corporation,in connection with an incident in which a municipal marshal on duty in Byatarayanapura Ward was allegedly assaulted,his uniform was torn,and his government duty was obstructed.

Venkatesh R.,a resident of Sneha Nagar,Amruthahalli,is working as a municipal marshal in Byatarayanapura Ward.

According to the complaint,on August 23,between approximately 5:50 am. and 6:20 a.m.,he noticed Vijay Kumar,a resident of Amruthanagar A Sector,dumping garbage on the road near Amruthahalli Lake.The marshal questioned him for dumping waste in a public place.

The complaint alleges that Vijay Kumar abused Venkatesh using obscene language,slapped him on the cheek,tore his uniform and obstructed him while he was performing his government duty.

Following the incident,Venkatesh lodged a complaint at Amruthahalli Police Station seeking legal action against Vijay Kumar for allegedly assaulting a municipal employee on duty,using abusive language and obstructing government duty.

Based on the complaint,Amruthahalli Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation.Police are verifying further details regarding the incident.

Bengaluru North City Corporation has appealed to citizens to cooperate with municipal staff engaged in maintaining cleanliness and public health,and not to engage in any form of misbehaviour or obstruction while they are performing their official duties.

Public Appeal:

Citizens within the limits of Bengaluru North City Corporation are requested not to dump garbage on roads,footpaths or other public places and to hand over their waste only to the door-to-door waste collection autos.

If the waste collection auto does not arrive at the scheduled time, citizens are requested to call the 1533 helpline and register a complaint.

Citizens are also requested to cooperate with the Corporation’s waste collection system and help prevent the creation of garbage black spots through dumping in public places.
