A case has been registered against a Congress leader from the Mahalakshmi Layout Assembly constituency for allegedly assaulting minor children,police said.
The accused has been identified as Anand Naidu, General Secretary of the Bengaluru North District Congress Committee (DCC).
Based on a complaint filed by a man at Annapoorneshwarinagar Police Station, Naidu has been booked under relevant sections,including provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complaint,Naidu was allegedly in an illicit relationship with the complainant’s wife for the past three to four years.The complainant further alleged that Naidu assaulted his minor children when they questioned the relationship.
The children have reportedly accused Naidu of physically attacking them using a rod and biting them, causing injuries to their legs and other parts of the body.
The complainant has also alleged that Naidu and his wife transferred property without his consent.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.Further details are awaited.
