Two disturbing incidents of alleged animal cruelty have been reported from the eastern parts of Bengaluru, raising concerns about public safety and enforcement of animal protection laws.
Dog Attacked with Knife in KR Puram:
According to a complaint filed by Vikash A.Bafna,a violent incident occurred on the morning of April 25 around 8:30 AM in Muniyappa Layout,KR Puram.
An unidentified young man allegedly attacked a stray dog with a knife,causing severe injuries.
Witnesses reported that the accused also behaved aggressively toward nearby residents,creating panic in the area.
The injured dog was immediately shifted to a veterinary hospital for treatment.Authorities have been urged to take strict legal action against the accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act,1960 and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023.
Dog Allegedly Killed at Construction Site in Ramamurthynagar:
In a separate incident reported earlier on April 21 at around 8:40 AM,a complaint was lodged by Rajesh,a founder associated with an NGO.The incident took place near the BBMP Public Health Centre in ACL Layout, Ramamurthynagar.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that a construction worker allegedly killed a dog at the site.The worker claimed that the act was in self-defense,stating that the dog had behaved aggressively.
The matter came to light through information shared by an animal welfare organization,prompting demands for legal action against the individual involved.
