The Tejus Disaster Management & Mitigation Centre (TDMMC) organised a five-day “Disaster Management Emergency Operations & Pre-Mock Exercise Training” programme from April 8 to 12, 2026,at the Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University) campus in Bengaluru.

The initiative was undertaken following directions from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

TDMMC coordinated with State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs) of 11 Himalayan states and various Army units to provide experiential training and facilitate pre-mock exercise preparedness.

As part of the initiative,a coordination meeting was held at Naushera in Rajouri district between the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Rajouri,and the 24 Sikh Regiment.

The training programme,designed based on field studies conducted in Himalayan regions, featured over 15 expert speakers.

Around 43 participants attended,representing the Army’s Eastern,Western and Southern Commands (including MEG & Centre,Bengaluru),ISRO Safety Department,CISF, RPF South Western Division, and Karnataka State Industrial Security Force.

Mock drills and practical sessions included demonstrations of radioactive substance detection by the Atomic Minerals Directorate,a tabletop exercise at Indian Oil Corporation Limited in coordination with the Directorate of Factories and Boilers,familiarisation of the Bhishm Project at the Air Force Command Hospital, and equipment demonstrations at a fire station.

Key topics covered during the training included the Disaster Management Act, 2005,institutional mechanisms,integration of disaster management with security,landslide case studies,artificial intelligence in disaster management,radiological and nuclear response,early warning systems by IMD,mass casualty management,biological disaster preparedness,forensic response,crowd management, Incident Response System (IRS),chemical and industrial disasters, and logistics and resource management.

The programme was inaugurated by Brigadier Mukesh Rastogi,former Director,Centre for Counter Terrorism, Internal Security Division,Government of Karnataka.

The valedictory session was presided over by M.P. Omkareshwari,Additional Commissioner for Transport (Enforcement & Safety),Government of Karnataka.

Army officers from various commands also visited the TDMMC administrative office during the programme.All participants were issued certificates upon completion.
