Karnataka Home Minister G.Parameshwara on Thursday stressed that police personnel must treat complainants with dignity and sensitivity,reiterating that the police department exists to deliver justice to the oppressed and aggrieved.
Speaking after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for multiple police infrastructure projects in Devanahalli and surrounding areas, he said the department must function in a people-friendly manner while maintaining discipline.

The Minister inaugurated new office buildings for the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Chikkabanavara, Chikkabanavara Traffic Police Station,Deputy Commissioner of Police offices in the North-West and North-East divisions,Devanahalli ACP office,and Devanahalli Police Station.
He also laid foundation stones for the Indian Reserve Battalion facility at Avathi.
Highlighting the scale of development,Parameshwara said projects worth Rs.594 crore have been initiated.
Of this, ₹8.60 crore has been allocated for works in Chikkabanavara, while ₹568 crore is earmarked for the IRB battalion at Avathi.He dismissed allegations that the government lacks funds,calling them politically motivated.
Describing the police as a disciplined force,he noted that Karnataka Police ranks among the best in delivering justice and maintaining public order.
He added that several reforms have been introduced to improve efficiency and public engagement.
Issuing clear directions,the Home Minister said police officers must not engage in real estate activities and warned against conducting informal settlements or “raji panchayats”inside police stations.“People visiting police stations must be treated respectfully,” he emphasized.
He further said the government has extended various welfare measures for police personnel,including housing under a scheme where well-equipped homes are being built at a cost of ₹38 lakh each.So far,about 40% of the housing requirement has been met.
On recruitment,he stated that the stalled PSI recruitment process,which had been affected by irregularities,has now been completed,and more recruitments will be taken up soon.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H.Muniyappa, Chikkaballapur MP K.Sudhakar,Karnataka DGP M.A. Saleem,Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh,and other senior officials were present at the event.
