Advocate assaulted in an attempt to rob by bike-borne men

A 35-year-old advocate was allegedly assaulted in an attempt to rob by two unidentified bike-borne miscreants near Jnanabharathi on Tuesday night.

The victim,identified as Shivaraja,a resident of Muddinapalya,stated in his complaint that the incident occurred on April 7 between 8:54 pm and 10:08 pm.

He had gone to meet a friend near R.V. College and was returning when the attack took place.

According to the complaint,while driving near Jnanabharathi signal towards Jnanabharathi University road,two unknown persons on a two-wheeler intercepted his car and forced him to stop.

When he initially refused and attempted to speed away, the accused chased him and again blocked his vehicle.

The miscreants allegedly threatened him to open the car door,warning of dire consequences.Out of fear,Shivaraja opened the door,following which the accused assaulted him and demanded money and his mobile phone.When he resisted,they physically attacked him and abused him.

The victim managed to alert nearby passersby by revealing that he was an advocate,prompting the accused to flee the spot on their motorcycle.

Shivaraja later sought treatment at a nearby hospital.

The accused are said to be aged between 18 and 30 years.One of them was reportedly wearing a light-coloured T-shirt.

Based on the complaint,the Jnanabharati police on Wednesday registered a case charging the accused under section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt ),126 (wrongful restrain),351(criminal intimidation),352 (intentional insults designed to provoke a breach of peace or incite another offense)of BNS for further investigation.
