Towing operations resume in Bengaluru to tackle illegal parking

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have resumed vehicle towing operations across the city after a temporary suspension,targeting illegal parking that disrupts the smooth flow of traffic.

The decision has been taken in coordination with the Greater Bengaluru Authority to ensure seamless traffic movement and curb violations related to unauthorized parking.

Officials said the renewed towing drive came into effect from April 5,2026,and is initially being implemented within the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru Central Municipal Corporation under the Authority.The operations will be gradually expanded to cover all municipal areas in the coming days.

Authorities stated that the towing operations will be carried out on a continuous basis to maintain orderly traffic conditions and reduce congestion on key roads.

The police have urged the public to strictly follow traffic rules and avoid indiscriminate parking to prevent penalties and inconvenience.
