The Upparpet Police have arrested the registrar of the Karnataka State Nursing Council for allegedly sexually harassing a female employee,officials said on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Dr K Mallu (50).
Senior officer told reporters that the 25-year-old complainant,who was working in the registrar’s office, approached the police on March 26 alleging that she was being sexually harassed and was said that she was not been able to continue working.
Based on her complaint,an FIR was registered at Upparpet police station and as part of the procecure , the police issued a notice to the accused to appear for questioning.However he failed to comply.
“Since the suspect did not appear before the Investigating officer despite repeated reminders,the police arrested him on March 31.
He was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody for further investigation.
