Mechanic Beaten to Death in Front of Children After Trivial Row in Bengaluru;7 Arrested

A trivial argument in central Bengaluru turned fatal when a 45-year-old mechanic was brutally assaulted and killed in front of his children on Sunday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Rasheed Ahmed (45),who ran a mechanic shop in the Wilson Garden area.

Senior officer told reporters that Ahmed had an argument with the prime suspect Parvez,who also worked in the same locality,over the construction of a concrete roof near their workplace.The verbal spat soon escalated into a violent assault.

During questioning it was revealed that Parvez allegedly hit Ahmed on the leg with a cricket bat while others joined the attack using sticks.During the assault,Ahmed collapsed and struck his head on the road,which led to his death.

“The argument escalated and the accused assaulted the victim with a bat and sticks.He fell down during the attack and sustained a fatal head injury,”a officer said.

The victim’s children reportedly witnessed the assault as they were present nearby at the time of the incident.

A video of the attack has since gone viral on social media,prompting widespread outrage.

The Wilson Garden police have registered a case of murder and launched an investigation.Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case.Among them,Parvez,Afrid and Munawwar have been identified as the key accused.

Sources said some allegations surfaced claiming the accused had been demanding hafta (protection money) from the victim.

However, police said they have not yet found any evidence to support the claim and the investigation is ongoing.
