In a successful anti-corruption operation,the Karnataka Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught a BBMP official red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The trap was executed under the supervision of Shivaprakash Devaraju,IPS,SP,KLA Bengaluru City-1.
According to officials,the case has been registered as Crime No. 10/2026 under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 (Amendment Act 2018).
The complainant,Abdul Rehman (49),a resident of Adarshanagar Layout, Bande, R.T.Nagar,had alleged that his chipping machine used for road cutting was unauthorisedly seized from a work site.
The accused government official allegedly demanded ₹10,000 for releasing the machine.
The accused,identified as M. Nagaraj (39),son of Muniraju,working with the BBMP at Kaval Bairasandra, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
The accused has been secured,and further investigation is under progress.
