PSI Booked for Assault,Threatening Bail Accused in Cheating Case

A 29-year-old private firm employee has filed a complaint against a Police Sub-Inspector alleging harassment, assault and criminal intimidation at a police station in connection with a cheating case registered last year.

The complainant,Avinash N.B,stated that he was one of the four accused booked in August 2025 along with his mother Pramila,father Basavaraj and sister Sowmya in a cheating case registered at the Magadi Road Police Station.

The case was registered under Sections 318(4),115(2), 351(2),351 and 3(5) of the BNS based on a complaint filed by Lakshmi,who alleged that Pramila had cheated her and others of several lakhs of rupees through a chit fund scheme.

Following the registration of the case,the accused had approached the court and obtained anticipatory bail.

Avinash stated that on September 20, 2025,Police Sub-Inspector,Koushik N.V.allegedly summoned his mother,father and sister to the police station without issuing any notice.

During the inquiry,the PSI allegedly abused and assaulted his mother and sister,and later took his father to the station in a police vehicle.

Avinash further alleged that the family members were wrongfully detained at the station until 6 pm and were subjected to verbal abuse.

Subsequently,on September 26, 2025,the 61st CCH Court granted bail to the accused with conditions.

When Avinash visited the police station on October 11,2025 to submit copies of the bail order to the Station House Officer,he alleged that PSI Koushik verbally abused him,caught him by the collar and threatened to implicate him in additional cases and send him to jail despite the bail order.

Avinash claimed he suffered shock following the incident and was treated at K.C.General Hospital.

Based on his complaint,a case has been registered against PSI Koushik N.V,as well as Lakshmi and Narasimha,for alleged harassment,assault and criminal intimidation.Further investigation is underway.
