To empower senior citizens BCP conducts digital literacy and cyber safety training in Bengaluru

In an effort to empower senior citizens and protect them from rising cyber frauds, the Bengaluru City Police has been conducting digital literacy and cyber safety awareness programmes across the city.

The initiative was originally launched on June 15,2024, on the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day,in association with Nightingales Medical Trust.

The programme was inaugurated at the office of the Police Commissioner with the objective of educating senior citizens about digital literacy and cyber security.

As part of the continued outreach, awareness sessions were held on February 13,2026, at Malleswaram under the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Committee,and on February 14,2026,at the Central Library in Kumaraswamy Layout.

During the sessions,nearly 90 senior citizens participated and were provided guidance on safe digital practices,cyber fraud prevention, and the use of the KSP Safe Connect app.

Police officials explained common online scams, precautionary measures,and emergency response mechanisms.

Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative and said the information shared would help them navigate digital platforms more safely.

Police officials stated that similar programmes will continue to be organised across all divisions of the city to ensure greater awareness and protection for elderly residents.
