Gas cylinder blast in Yelahanka injures newlywed couple

A newly married couple sustained grievous injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded at their residence in Chowdeshwari Layout in Yelahanka in the early hours of Sunday.

The injured have been identified as Krishnamma and Raju,natives of Bagepalli.

The couple were rushed to Victoria Hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment and their condition remains critical.

The explosion occurred around 6 am,reportedly due to a gas leak inside the house.

Though the exact cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained,locals suspect that the accumulated gas may have ignited when the couple attempted to light the stove or switched on an electrical appliance.

The impact of the explosion was so severe that a portion of the house wall was blown apart.

The Yelahanka police visited the spot,conducted an inspection for further investigation.
