Juvenile arrested by Mahalakshmi layout police and recovered 10 stolen bikes worth Rs.3.5 Lakhs

The Mahalakshmi layout police have arrested a juvenile for stealing two-wheelers parked in front of houses during night hours.Police have recovered 10 stolen bikes of various companies worth ₹3.5 lakh from the accused.

Senior officer told reporters that,the accused was nabbed when a patrol team from Mahalakshmipuram Police Station was on night rounds near 8th Cross, Andhra Halli Road.

The suspect was found moving in a suspicious manner on a bike and was taken into custody for questioning.

During sustained interrogation,the accused reportedly confessed that he,along with his friend,used to break the locks of two-wheelers parked in front of houses at night and steal them from different parts of the city.

He further revealed that nine of the stolen bikes had been hidden in a vacant place at Kamalanagar with the intention of selling them.Based on his information,police recovered the vehicles.

Police said the accused’s associate,a 17-year-old juvenile,was summoned to the station along with his mother.

After inquiry,it was confirmed that he was a minor involved in the offences.He was counselled and handed over to his mother as per legal procedures.

With the arrest,police have detected seven two-wheeler theft cases reported at Mahalakshmi layout, Basaveshwaranagar, Byadarahalli,Byatarayanapura and Kamakshipalya police stations.

The owners of three other recovered bikes are yet to be traced.
