The Sanjaynagar police have detained eight foreign nationals, including a woman,for allegedly overstaying their Visas and residing illegally in the city.
The police said five of the detainees are from Cameroon and three from Sudan.They had reportedly come to Bengaluru around four years ago on student visas.
However,even after the expiry of their visa period,they continued to stay in the city without valid documents.
Initially,the accused were residing in the city outskirts. Recently,they had shifted to Bhoopasandra in Sanjaynagar police said.
As part of a special drive being conducted across the city to identify illegal foreign residents,the police traced and secured the eight persons during a recent operation.
All of them will be produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further action.
After completing legal formalities,steps will be taken to deport them to their respective countries, police added.
A case has been registered at the Sanjaynagar police station.
