Retired Navy Captain,Dentist Wife Stabbed to Death by Son in Bengaluru
In a shocking incident reported from east Bengaluru,a retired Navy Captain and his dentist wife were allegedly stabbed to death by their son at their residence in Vignan Nagar under the HAL.Police Station limits on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Naveen Chandra Bhat (60),a retired Navy Captain,and Dr.Shyamala Bhat (55),a dental practitioner.
The couple was residing in Villa No.112 at Adarsha Vista Apartments in Vignan Nagar.
Senior officer told reporters that,the incident occurred around 7.30 am following a domestic dispute.Their son, Rohan Chandra Bhat (33),allegedly attacked both his parents with a knife with an intention to kill them.
The severely injured couple was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared them dead at around 8.15 am.
Based on a complaint lodged by Dr.Madhavi Nair,a doctor at Manipal Hospital and a resident of Adarsha Vista Apartments,the HAL Police have registered a case of murder against Rohan Chandra Bhat and initiated an investigation.
The accused has been taken into custody and will be produced before the jurisdictional court.The exact motive behind the double murder is yet to be ascertained, police said.
The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of Bowring Hospital.Post-mortem examination will be conducted after the couple’s daughter,who is travelling from the United States,arrives in Bengaluru.
