Halasuru police arrest 18 for copying in Army Group C exam allegedly using sophisticated electronic devices

The Bengaluru East Division Police of Halasuru police have arrested 18 candidates for allegedly using sophisticated electronic devices to cheat during a recruitment examination conducted at the 515 Army Base Workshop, Halasuru.

All the arrested candidates are reportedly from Haryana and have been identified as Surender,Sandeep,Monty, Anuj,Ajay Kumar,Sumit,Rahul,Aman,Ankit,Vikas,Yogesh, Aman Redu,Rajat,Ankit,Vinay,Aman Kumar,Manish and Prashant.

The incident took place on February 8,2026,during the direct recruitment written examination for Group ‘C’ Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts,conducted under the supervision of Selection Board No.3.

Officials detected suspicious behaviour during the exam and uncovered a coordinated attempt by multiple candidates to manipulate the results using technology.

During searches conducted inside the examination hall and its premises,officials seized three mobile phones and 12 specialised electronic communication devices allegedly used for malpractice.

Some devices were found concealed on the candidates, while additional electronic gadgets were recovered from bags kept outside the examination hall belonging to Aman and Rajat, police said.

The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the Managing Officer of the Composite&Mechanical Workshop.

Police have initiated further investigation to determine whether an organised cheating racket was involved and to identify others who may have facilitated the malpractice.
