A 50 year old man, who had walked into Gudibande Govt Hospital in Chikkaballapura with a minor allergic reaction, died moments after receiving an injection, sparking outrage among locals.
The deceased, identified as Krishna Reddy,a resident of Bommanahalli village, had reportedly consumed natural honey which triggered a mild allergy. He arrived at the hospital on his own seeking medical aid.
According to reports, the duty doctor administered an injection to treat the reaction. However,Krishna Reddy collapsed immediately after receiving the dose and died on the spot.
The sudden death has led to anger among family members and villagers, who allege medical negligence. Relatives questioned how a man who appeared stable could die instantly after treatment.
Medical experts suggest the possibility of anaphylactic shock (a life-threatening and rapid-onset allergic reaction) though only a detailed investigation can determine whether the reaction was caused by the honey or the medication.
An official inquiry into the incident is now underway.
