Two women were booked by the Hulimavu police for allegedly assaulting a cab driver while under the influence of alcohol in Hulimavu late on Saturday night.
The incident took place on the Devarachikkanahalli Main Road under the Hulimavu police station limits.
The accused women,identified as Lisa and Matthew,are residents of the JP Nagar and Koramangala areas.
Senior officer told reporters that,the women had visited a private hotel along with their friends and were returning when an argument broke out with the cab driver.The accused were allegedly riding a bike and rammed into the cab from behind.
When the cab driver,Ahmed,questioned them over the collision,the women reportedly abused him and attempted to flee from the spot on their bike.
However,local residents intervened and stopped them.
The situation escalated when one of the women allegedly wrapped a chain around her hand and assaulted the cab driver.
The women are also accused of verbally abusing Ahmed and making obscene gestures during the altercation.
Local residents immediately alerted the police, following which a case was registered at the Hulimavu police station.The police have taken the two women into custody and are questioning them further.Further investigation is underway.
