A 54-year-old woman who was on her evening walk was robbed of her gold chain after threatening her at knifepoint near Machohalli forest on February 2.
According to the police,the victim,Nirmala,a resident of Machohalli,was out for her routine evening walk at a park near the forest around 4.30 pm.
At about 5 pm,the accused confronted her, threatened her with a knife and punched her in the face,causing her to fall to the ground.
The accused then snatched a gold chain weighing about 32 grams,valued at approximately Rs.3.5 lakh,from her neck and fled into the forest,the FIR stated.
“I cried for help but there was no one around.He appeared to be between 22 and 25 years old,lanky,and was wearing a shirt and trousers,”Nirmala told the police in her complaint.
After the incident,she informed her husband,following which the couple approached the Madanayakanahalli police station and lodged a complaint.
A case has been registered under Section 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway,police said.
