Two cops suspended for negligence of duty in Bengaluru

Two constables attached to the KP Agrahara police station have been suspended for negligence while discharging official duties,police officials said on Tuesday.

The constables were assigned the task of serving summons on persons connected to a cheque bounce case.

However,they allegedly failed to carry out the duty, leading to delays in the investigation.Owing to the lapse, the investigating officer concerned reportedly faced adverse remarks during a court hearing.

The matter was brought to the notice of senior police officials,who ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Following the inquiry,the two constables were placed under suspension,and a departmental probe has been ordered to initiate further disciplinary proceedings.

Police officials expressed concern over the increasing instances of carelessness,negligence,insubordination and corruption within the force.

In a recent incident,the inspector of KP Agrahara police station was caught red-handed by Lokayukta officials while allegedly accepting a bribe from a realtor and a moneylender in exchange for official favours.

A case was registered against the officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act,following which he was suspended from service.
