Hebbagodi police arrest three for abduction and extortion

Hebbagodi police have arrested three persons for allegedly abducting and extorting money from a goods vehicle driver in H.Hosahalli village under the limits of Hebbagodi Police Station.

Senior officer told reporters that the complainant,a resident of H.Hosahalli,was working as a goods vehicle driver and had recently sold his vehicle with the intention of purchasing a cab.

After learning that the complainant was carrying the sale proceeds,one of his friends,along with two others, allegedly conspired to abduct him and extort money.

The incident occurred on January 30 around 7 pm,when the complainant was called out of his house by his friend and taken in an autorickshaw to a secluded location.

There,the accused allegedly assaulted him with a hockey stick,forcibly robbed him of Rs.1,500 in cash,and demanded an additional Rs.50,000,threatening to kill him.

Based on the complaint,a case was registered at Hebbagodi Police Station.Acting swiftly,the police on January 31 arrested all three accused near their residences in H.Hosahalli and recovered Rs.1,500 from them.

During interrogation,the accused reportedly confessed to committing the crime with the intention of robbing the money the complainant had obtained by selling his goods vehicle.Further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police,Electronic City Division, Narayan M,IPS,under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police,Satish K.M,and Hebbagodi Police Station Inspector,Somashekar G,along with other officers and staff.
