Even as Jnanabharathi police station Inspector Ravi faces suspension over alleged dereliction of duty in a murder investigation,a fresh controversy has erupted with the emergence of a suspected hawala money angle involving Rs.1.05 Crore.
According to sources, the development is linked to a recent operation in which a large sum of cash, believed to be Hawala money, was seized during a vehicle interception on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
While official records mention the seizure of Rs.1.05 crore, allegations have surfaced that the actual amount involved could be higher, triggering serious questions about the handling of the case.
The incident reportedly occurred after police received specific information about illegal cash movement.
A vehicle was intercepted following a chase, and three persons were taken into custody for questioning. The seized cash was suspected to be part of an organised Hawala network operating across state lines.
Inspector Ravi’s name has surfaced amid allegations of procedural lapses and jurisdictional violations during the operation.
Sources also claim discrepancies in documentation and cash accounting, which have now become a key focus of the inquiry.
In the wake of these allegations, senior police officials have ordered a detailed probe into the hawala case as well as the role of officers involved. The investigation has been entrusted to a senior officer to ensure transparency and accountability.
Police officials have clarified that the matter is under investigation and that no conclusions should be drawn at this stage.Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
The case has sent ripples through the police department, coming close on the heels of Inspector Ravi’s suspension, and has intensified scrutiny over alleged misconduct and financial irregularities within the force.
