The Kadugodi Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a road rage incident after a video showing him brandishing a dagger went viral on social media.
The case was registered at Kadugodi Police Station on Saturday following the circulation of the video,which caused public concern.
Acting swiftly, the police team traced and arrested the accused on Sunday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sayed Arbaz Khan,son of Samiulla Khan, aged 25.He is employed at a fish seller’s shop owned by Imthiyaz at Kanakanagara in R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru.
During investigations revealed that Arbaz Khan is a habitual offender and has been previously involved in multiple criminal cases registered at different police stations in the city.
These include:Govindapura Police Station–Case related to preparation for dacoity.Frazer Town Police Station– Hurt case,Sampangiramanagar Police Station–Hurt case,Ashoknagar Police Station–Bike theft case.
The police have seized the weapon used in the incident and further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the road rage episode.
Officials stated that strict action will be taken against those who threaten public safety and misuse social media to spread fear.
DCP Whitefield,Saidulu Adavath said,“Bengaluru City Police will not tolerate any acts of road rage or any behavior that disrupts public peace and law and order. Strict and swift legal action will be taken against individuals involved in violent behavior, display of weapons, threats, or indecent conduct in public places.
Such incidents create fear and unrest among the general public. In order to ensure road safety and maintain public peace, Bengaluru City Police follow a zero-tolerance policy towards road rage.Citizens are requested to remain calm, act responsibly, and cooperate with the law.”
