A 29-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter died after the woman allegedly set herself on fire following a dispute with her husband at Sanjaynagar on Thursday .
The deceased have been identified as Seetha (29) and her daughter Srishti (4).The tragic incident occurred at Krishnaappa Layout under the Sanjaynagar police station limits
Senior officer told reporters that,Seetha and her husband Govind Bahadur,natives of Nepal,were working as domestic help at a house in Sanjaynagar.The couple had been provided a small house near their workplace to reside in.
Govind Bahadur frequently travelled to Nepal and would remain there for several months at a time.This reportedly led to frequent quarrels between the couple.
On Wednesday evening,Seetha allegedly had an argument with her husband over the phone.
Following the dispute,Seetha is said to have poured petrol on herself and her daughter and set them on fire. Seetha died on the spot due to severe burn injuries.
Her daughter, who sustained critical burns,was rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbours but succumbed to injuries on Thursday morning.
Upon receiving information,Sanjaynagar police rushed to the spot,conducted a preliminary inspection and registered a case.Further investigation is underway.
