The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) have intensified enforcement against motorists using high-beam headlights under the special drive titled “Dazzling Light”, aimed at improving road safety and reducing accidents caused by glare.
As part of the special enforcement conducted on January 10 night,traffic police booked 1,843 cases across the city.Since the launch of the drive on January 7, 2026,a total of 10,954 cases have been registered against violators till 11th January as per official count by BTP.
According to Division-wise data released by the BTP,the West Division reported the highest number of violations, with 1,025 cases booked on January 10 night and 5,806 cases since January 7.
This was followed by the South Division with 331 cases on the night and 1,989 cases cumulatively.
The East Division recorded 329 cases on January 10 night and 1,849 cases in total.
While the North Division registered 158 cases on the night and 1,310 cases since the start of the drive till 11th January.
Traffic police officials said the drive is aimed at creating awareness among motorists about the dangers of using high-beam lights within city limits,which can temporarily blind other road users and lead to serious accidents.
Enforcement on the spot & Removal of Lights:
Senior officers,as,Commissioner of Police,Seemant Kumar Singh has directed Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy,to direct all DCPs,as,Dr.Anoop A Shetty,Sahil Bagla,,Gopal M.Byakod,Jayaprakash and all ACPs,PIs,to monitor the drive and instruct all police stations to register maximum cases and ensure on-the-spot removal of unauthorised fittings,dismantling LED bars,and flashers from vehicles,including bikes and commercial pick-up vehicles
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have urged motorists to follow traffic rules and switch to low-beam headlights while driving in city limits,reiterating their message:“Be a Responsible Driver—Switch to Low Beam.”
