Couple arrested by Sadashivanagar police for stealing valuables worth Rs.1.37 Crores from businessman’s residence

The Sadashivanagar police have arrested a 19-year-old domestic help and her husband for stealing valuables worth Rs.1.37 crore from a businessman’s residence where she was working .

The arrested accused have been identified as Hajira Begum (19) and her husband Shabbir Hussain (23), both natives of Assam.

Senior officer told reporters that Hajira was employed as a domestic help at the victim’s house.

Taking advantage of the family’s absence during New Year celebrations,she allegedly stole valuables with the assistance of her husband.

The stolen items included 787.66 grams of gold ornaments, 291grams of silver ornaments, and seven wrist watches,collectively valued at Rs.1.37 crore.

The theft reportedly occurred while the businessman and his family were away from the city.Police said the stolen articles were recovered from the possession of the accused. Both were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
