The Electronic City police have arrested an autorickshaw driver turned laptop thief and his associate and recovered 48 stolen laptops worth approximately Rs.40 lakh from them.
Based on the complaint,from a resident of Abbayya Street in Doddathoguru,paying guest about the laptops thefts,the Electronic City Police Station,registered a case and carried out searches at multiple locations and collected technical and intelligence inputs.
Before zeroing in on Rajadorai (33)an autorickshaw driver at Mandavalli Circle in Kalakurichi district,Tamilnadu.
During interrogation,the accused confessed to committing the theft and revealed information about his associate,Gautam (30)a laptop service technician who refurbish them before selling.
He also disclosed that similar laptop thefts had been carried out at several PG accommodations across Bengaluru.
The arrested accused was produced before a court and remanded to 10 days of police custody.
During sustained interrogation,he provided details about his accomplice, who was subsequently arrested on December 19, 2025,from Attibele.
The second accused,during questioning,admitted that the stolen laptops were sold for financial gain and Gautham used to format the laptops and sell it in grey market .
City Police commissioner,Seemant Kumar Singh had advised the paying guests residents to be careful while keeping their valuables and ensure proper locking system.
The jurisdictional police have been told to carry out awareness campaign at the PGs in their jurisdiction as preventive measures and ensure safety of the paying guest residents.
