Inter-state bike lifting gang arrested by KR Puram Police and recovered 60 stolen motorcycles worth Rs.50 Lakhs

The KR Puram police have busted an interstate bike-lifting gang and arrested four persons,recovering 60 stolen motorcycles worth ₹50 lakh,officials said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Yuvraj (26) and Ranjith Kumar (27),both cab drivers from Vellore in Tamilnadu,along with their associates Vinod and Manikanta.

Senior officer told reporters that Yuvraj and Ranjith would travel to Bengaluru in a car,target only Hero Honda Splendor motorcycles,steal them and ride the bikes back to their native place.

With the help of their associates,the stolen vehicles were sold to contacts allegedly involved in timber smuggling.

Investigations revealed that the buyers operated from remote hilly regions, where there was a high demand for two-wheelers.

Following a bike theft complaint,a special team led by Inspector,Ramamurthy B analysed over 80 CCTV footages from various locations before zeroing in on the accused.

Based on their confession,the police recovered 60 stolen motorcycles that were parked at isolated locations in Gudiyattam in Tirupattur district,which were allegedly about to be delivered to buyers.

The total value of the recovered bikes is estimated at Rs.50 lakh.

With their arrest,we have solved eight bike theft cases. Efforts are on to trace the owners of the remaining motorcycles, most of which have not been reported stolen,said a senior officer.
