A day after a techie was killed and three others were injured in a cylinder explosion at a paying guest (PG) accommodation,the HAL police have registered an FIR against the building owner and the manager,invoking charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Senior officer said the accused have been identified as Vishnu,the building owner,and Roja,who was locally managing the Seven Hills Sai Co-Living PG near Kundalahalli.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly negligent and failed to maintain the PG premises properly,which led to the fatal accident.
During investigation it was found that fire and thick smoke were noticed around 6.15 pm in the G+6 building housing the PG,which had 43 rooms.The fire was caused by the explosion of a commercial Bharat Gas cylinder, officer said.
The blast claimed the life of Aravind (23),a native of Ballari,who was working as a senior analyst at a private firm in Bengaluru.
Three others sustained injuries:Venkatesh(28)from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh,Vishal Verma(23),and C V Goel(25),both from Uttarakhand.
“Preliminary probe revealed that a gas leak was detected around 2 pm,but it was allegedly ignored.There was also no proper ventilation in the building.Two commercial gas cylinders and one domestic cylinder were found at the spot,a senior police officer said.
The duo was taken into custody for questioning for further investigations are on.
