Man arrested by Jnanabharathi police in record time for allegedly stalking,harrassing,& sexually assaulting young woman after befriending her through Instagram

The Jnanabharathi police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly stalking, harassing and sexually assaulting a young woman after befriending her through Instagram.

Senior officer told reporters that the accused established contact with the victim via Instagram and began pressuring her to accept his love.

Despite her repeated refusal,he allegedly continued to stalk her,follow her movements,abuse her using obscene language,physically assault her and threaten her.

The police said that on December 22,2025,at around 3.20 pm,the accused went to the PG accommodation where the victim was staying and again forced her to accept his proposal.

When she refused,he allegedly assaulted her by hitting her on the head,back and legs,forcibly grabbed her shirt, attempted to tear her clothes and sexually harassed her before fleeing the spot.

Within hours of registering the case, the police traced and arrested the accused, identified as Naveen Kumar N (29),a resident of Billamaranahalli village,Jala Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk,Bengaluru district.He has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

Following the incident,the woman vacated the PG accommodation due to fear and trauma.Police said the victim had shifted four to five PGs in the last six months to escape the accused’s harassment and had been staying at Sai Baba PG for the last two months.

Investigators revealed that the accused had earlier created disturbances near the PG premises and had repeatedly followed and harassed the woman wherever she moved.

Due to the continuous harassment, the victim had reportedly quit her job as a telecaller.

On the day of the incident,the victim had called a friend to collect her pending salary.The friend was also acquainted with the accused,police said.

Jnanabharathi police have taken the accused into custody and are continuing further investigation.The victim had been living in constant fear due to the accused’s persistent harassment,he added.
