The Lokayukta officials on Wednesday trapped Assistant Commissioner of Police,Malleshwaram sub-division,red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 from a hotelier to allow him to run his business beyond permissible time limits .
The accused,identified as Krishna Murthy,was arrested and booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, following a complaint by Sanjay Kumar,Manager of hotel in Rajajinagar.
The ACP had allegedly demanded Rs.50,000 to allow the hotel to operate beyond the government-mandated permissible hours.
A day earlier a sub-inspector posted at the Chikkajala police station was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs.2 lakh for filing a ‘B report’ in a cheating case.
Acting on a complaint lodged by one Ravikumar,the Lokayukta police registered a case and laid a trap, arresting PSI Shivanna while he was accepting the bribe money,officials said.
Officials said a cheating case was registered at the Chikkajala police against Ravikumar.To file a‘B report’ in the case,Shivanna allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.3 lakh.
