The Rajagopalnagar Police have registered a sexual harassment case against online friend for allegedly subjecting a 32-year-old married woman to mental and physical harassment after offering her financial help during a crisis.
The complainant,claimed that she came in contact with the accused, identified as Paritosh Yadav,through social media.
Over time,the two developed a friendship.Meanwhile the woman’s daughter suffered serious injuries following a gas cylinder leak at their residence.
For her daughter’s medical treatment,the homemaker reportedly borrowed Rs.30,000 from the accused.
The Police said the accused later used the loan as leverage to harass the woman and pressure her into a physical relationship.
The matter eventually came to the notice of the woman’s husband,leading to marital discord.
Distressed by the situation,the woman allegedly attempted suicide at a friend’s house in Peenya. However,the timely intervention of her friends saved her life.
Subsequently,the woman approached the Rajagopalnagar Police Station and lodged a complaint seeking action against the accused for mental harassment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
