Two Drug peddlers arrested by Bagepalli police,3.5 kg Ganja worth Rs.1.75 Lakhs seized

The Bagepalli police have arrested two persons and seized 3.5 kilograms of ganja worth Rs.1.75 lakh in a special operation conducted on December 18, 2025.

The arrested accused have been identified as Bhaskar P.V,resident of Bagepalli town and Sheikh Irfan,resident of Rayachoti town, Andhra Pradesh.

Acting on credible information about illegal ganja sale, police officials and staff formed special teams and conducted a raid near Gulur Niduvalamidi Matha limits under Bagepalli taluk.

During patrolling,the police noticed two suspicious individuals carrying a bag.On spotting the police,the accused allegedly attempted to flee but were apprehended.

Upon inspection,the police found 3.5 kg of ganja concealed in the bag.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the contraband was procured from Andhra Pradesh and brought to Bagepalli for illegal sale.

They further admitted to selling ganja in Bagepalli,Gulur, Chelur, Patapalya and surrounding villages.

The seized ganja is estimated to be worth Rs.1,75,000. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Bagepalli Police Station.

Both accused were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
