Two-Day Vijay Mahotsav Concludes with Grandeur

Chamoli:
A grand two-day Vijay Mahotsav was organized at Bairashkund, Chamoli, to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaur, a Mahavir Chakra awardee and hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, born in village Nauna, Chamoli district. The event was held under the aegis of the Mahavir Chakra Vijay Mahotsav Committee and was presided over by the Committee President Shri Dinesh Chandra Gaur.

The first day of the program was inaugurated jointly by District Panchayat President Shri Daulat Singh Bisht as the Chief Guest and Dr. Vipin Gaur, General Secretary of the Newspapers Association of India, as the Special Guest. The stage proceedings were conducted by Shri Prabhat Purohit, former village head of Matai. Village heads, Block Panchayat members, committee office-bearers, and a large number of local residents were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vipin Gaur stated that the Vijay Mahotsav has been dedicated to India’s youngest martyr and the youngest recipient of the Mahavir Chakra, Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaur. He emphasized that the event is not merely a fair, but a living symbol of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice.
Dr. Gaur urged the Uttarakhand Government to accord the Vijay Mahotsav state-level recognition, stating that such an initiative would be a true tribute to the Mahavir Chakra awardee and would strengthen the thinking of the youth while boosting the morale of soldiers guarding the nation’s borders.

The second day of the event was inaugurated in the august presence of Tharali MLA Hon’ble Shri Bhopal Ram Tamta as the Chief Guest. The stage was conducted by Shri Umesh Katait, BJP Mandal President. Captain Karan Singh Bisht, President of the Ex-Servicemen Organization, along with several office-bearers of various veterans’ associations, were also present.

The Vijay Mahotsav featured a range of activities including a multi-purpose service camp, NCC cadet competitions, Mangal singing competition, solo singing competition, and tug-of-war contests. Enchanting performances by local folk artists, cultural programs by the Himalaya Colour Natya Sansthan, and a felicitation ceremony honoring brave soldiers and families of martyrs remained the major highlights of the festival.

Throughout both days, cultural presentations added grandeur to the event. Mangal songs by women’s groups, NCC drill demonstrations, and vibrant cultural performances captivated the audience.

The Vijay Mahotsav concluded in a highly successful, disciplined, and dignified atmosphere, reaffirming the values of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism. The event served as a powerful inspiration for the younger generation to uphold the spirit of national service while honoring the heroic legacy of Shaheed Anusuya Prasad Gaur.
