The arrested accused have been identified as Mallikarjun, working a medical supply executive, and his associates Pramod,Vinay and Hruthvik.

Despite this,he falsely projected himself as a serving PSI in his native Siraguppa village and led a lavish lifestyle.

Driven by the desire to maintain an affluent lifestyle,he allegedly resorted to crime with the help of his associates.

He further said Hruthvik, the fourth accused, closely observed the movements of Naveen lavish life and informed Mallikarjun that cash and gold ornaments could be found at his house located at Narasipura in the Vidyaranyapura police station limits.

Acting on the tip-off,the accused arrived at Naveen’s house in a car on December 7,dressed in full police uniform.

They allegedly accused Naveen of selling ganja, threatened to conduct a house search and assaulted him with a baton and an iron rod.

The accused then demanded money, threatening arrest.

To avoid being taken into custody,Naveen was allegedly forced to part with ₹87,000 from his bank account, ₹53,000 kept in an almirah and ₹2,000 from his wallet, after which the accused fled the spot.
