The KR Puram Police have arrested a key member of an infamous attention-diversion gang and recovered Rs.4 lakh from his possession.
The accused,Raja Chinna Kumar(32),was tracked down in Tiruchi,Tamilnadu,using CCTV footage.
Police later recovered the stolen cash,which he had hidden at a friend’s house in Koramangala.
Senior officer told reporters that Raja and his associate had followed Sudhakar,a city-based resident,after he withdrew ₹5 lakh from a bank.
Sudhakar later reached TC Palya,where he is constructing a house,and took ₹50,000 from the scooter’s boot space to pay labourers.When he returned, he found the remaining cash missing and filed a complaint.
Acting on the complaint,police examined CCTV footage from the bank to Sudhakar’s house and confirmed that the gang had tailed him throughout the route.
Based on the evidence,the police identified Raja and apprehended him at his native place. He has been remanded in judicial custody, while efforts are on to trace his associates who are currently on the run.
