The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has been honoured with the Geospatial Excellence Award for Water Management for its GIS-based utility asset management platform, JALAPATHA,at the GeoSmart India 2025 conference held at Bharat Mandapam,New Delhi.
The award was presented during the conference’s Closing Plenary Session and received by BWSSB Chairman Dr.Ram Prasath Manohar,IAS.
Speaking after the event,Dr.Manohar said the recognition reflects BWSSB’s commitment to“scientific, technology-led water governance for a growing Bengaluru.”
He credited Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar for his vision,thanked Karnataka Chief Secretary,Dr.Shalini Rajneesh for guiding the programme and acknowledged the initiative launched by Urban Development Department ACS Tushar Girinath.
“This award belongs to our BWSSB engineers,GIS teams and field staff who built this transformation,”he said.
The award recognises BWSSB’s efforts in geospatial mapping, asset digitisation, and real-time data integration,which have helped centralise thousands of water and sewerage assets onto a unified platform—improving planning,monitoring, and maintenance efficiency.
A Future-Focused Water Network:
BWSSB has announced that JALAPATHA will soon enter its next phase,with advanced geospatial analytics, predictive maintenance tools,and real-time project monitoring.
“These upgrades will strengthen service delivery, reduce losses, and create a resilient water network ready for Bengaluru’s future,” Dr.Manohar said.
Organised by Geospatial World,in partnership with the Survey of India and national agencies,the GeoSmart India Awards celebrate innovations shaping India’s geospatial ecosystem.
BWSSB’s geospatial push is now being viewed as a model for urban utilities across India,demonstrating how technology can directly improve citizen services and operational efficiency.
