The Hebbagodi police have arrested a 39-year-old cloth merchant and his friend for robbing cash ₹ 1.14 crore from the apartment belonging to the businessman with whom they had acquainted for few months.
The victim who runs multiple business ventures used to keep heavy cash at his apartment for business purpose.
The accused identified as Srinivasa Murthy HK who runs a cloth shop in Chickpet and his associate Arun Kumar BN,39,electrician at NICE company knew about the victim keeping huge cash and decided to steal .
As per the plan the duo recceed the house for few days and broke into the house on November 9,when the house owner and his family had gone to his native Kolar.
The accused did not use mobile phone and covered the faces with helmet to avoid detection.
Based on the complaint,the police taken up a case and analysed over hundred CCTV footage and in one of the footage they got the face of one of the accused.
With the help of footage the police used local intel network to zero in on the accused ad recovered the cash which the accused had kept in the cloth shop and part of the money at the house of his friends.
The accused confessed that they wanted to expand their business and wanted money and decided to steal money from the businessman who always have cash at home in lakhs.
The accused thought they would get around 20 to 25 lakh but never expected that it will be over crore .
City police commissioner,Seemant Kumar singh said that he would send a report to the IT department on the recovery of such a huge amount of hard cash from businessman for further investigations .
