Mobile phones continue to ring inside the high-security Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara,as prison staff — during a series of surprise inspections seized 15 mobile phones,11 SIM cards,3 chargers and 3 earbuds from the various barracks on November 26 .
A team of prison officials carried out surprise inspections as part of the routine exercise and found the banned items conceals in the pillow of one of the convict identified as Muniraju.
The officials intensified the search to find other mobile phones concealed in the bathroom window sills,arches and cupboards of the inmates .
The officials conducted a detailed inquiry before zeroing in on two convicts including Rabikul Islam and Muniraju and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint filed by Paramesh HS, superintendent of the prison,the Parappana Agrahara police charged the accused under various section of Karnataka Prisons Act for further investigations.
Mr.Paramesh has requested the police to probe about the source of the phones and how it was brought into the prison hoodwinking security checks .
