Continuing investigations into the Adulterated Nandini Ghee racket,officials of the Central Crime Branch on Sunday arrested a couple who are operating the racket for many years .
The CCB officials earlier this month raided a Krishna Enterprises in Chamarajpet,the distribution unit of the adulterated ghee and arrested four including the owner , his son and two of his employee for supplying the sub standard products to the shops and commercial establishments .
Based on their information,the officials raided the house of the accused identified as Shivakumar,45,and his wife Ramya,40 from their residence in Mysore.
The couple according to the police had set up a unit in Tamil Nadu operated a manufacturing unit and sold fake ghee under the brand ‘Nandini”and used sub standard and adulterated products to prepare the ghee in large scale.
The accused were also printing the stickers and packing materials to prepare the products and supply .
The couple had set up an advanced facility equipped worth lakhs of rupees to prepare spurious products and had a network of distributors in the state and also in outside to supply.
This is not only loss to the state exchequer but also damaging the name of the brand with the sub standard products,a police officer, said .
The accused are habitual offenders involved in similar case and booked by Mysuru city police last year, a police officer, said.
The police have seized the couple bank accounts, documents and other equipment to ascertain their network of sale.
