Chaotic Scenes Outside Vidhana Soudha Leaves Bengaluru in panic;Alert beat police break up commotion by group 11 arrested

A violent clash involving a group of visitors from a neighbouring state erupted on the footpath opposite Vidhana Soudha on Saturday evening,triggering panic among the public and raising questions over security lapse in one of the city’s high security zones.

According to police,the group had reportedly come to see the Vidhana Soudha building when a heated argument broke out among them,quickly escalating into a physical fight.Police suspect the clash stemmed from a personal dispute.

A video of the incident soon went viral on social media.
Beat police personnel reached the spot within seconds, dispersed the group using mild caning, and brought the situation under control,a senior officer said.

The Vidhana Soudha Police Station has registered a suo motu case,and after analysing CCTV footage from in and around identified 11 Nepali nationals and arrested them.

Many people including former city police commissioner Bhaskar Rao questioning the city police security arrangement condemning such incident,which according to them has dented the image of the city .

Reacting to the incident,DCP,Central Division,Akshay M Hakay,said that the beat staff deployed there have acted promptly,dispersed the people and ensured order is maintained.

A case has been taken up and further legal action has been initiated.
